Stars Align for Yakshagana: Patla Sambhrama Celebrates Second Edition

The radiant Kalladi Vittala Shetty Stage at Mangalore Town Hall lit up with festivity as the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation hosted the second edition of the renowned Patla Sambhrama on May 22nd, 2016. The evening was graced by the presence of some of Sandalwood’s most celebrated stars, including Darshan, Tara, Anup Bhandari, Nirup Bhandari, and Nandini.
This star-studded spectacle served as a platform to honor and celebrate the contributions of Yakshagana artists, the custodians of this vibrant art form. The event resonated with the dedicated Yakshagana community, providing them a stage for recognition and appreciation. It was a night of camaraderie, celebration, and a reaffirmation of the Foundation’s commitment to preserving and promoting this cherished art form.

Art, Aid, and Awards

The event also featured free medical camps for Yakshagana artists and their family members, a blood donation drive for Trust members and Yakshagana fans, and the honoring of Jabbar Samo Sampaje with the Yakshagourava award. The launch of an accident insurance scheme for artistes, gold medals for children of artistes who scored above 90% in the second PUC examination, and scholarships for children of disabled artists were significant highlights. Additionally, children of Yakshagana artists received the Vidyarthi Pratibha Puraskara.The festivities included a variety of cultural programs such as Tulu Talamaddale, Yaksha Sapta Swara, and Radha Vilas. Shri Ramachandrapura Krupaposhitha Yakshagana Mandali of Hosanagara performed “Manishada,” curated by Shri Bottikere Purushottama Punja.
