Yakshaashraya

The stark reality that numerous Yakshagana artists, renowned for weaving enchanting tales on stage, grapple with poverty in their everyday lives is undeniably disheartening. These artists, despite their magical performances, often inhabit simple or dilapidated homes, lacking the basic comforts most take for granted. In a commendable initiative to transform their lives, the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation undertook the task of constructing proper houses for these artists. The foundation’s vision to provide a better future received overwhelming support from benevolent donors, ensuring the success of the housing project.
The impact extends beyond the tangible structures; it resonates in the newfound hope that permeates the lives of Yakshagana artists. The initiative not only uplifts these performers from impoverished conditions but also fortifies the communal fabric by securing the well-being of its artistic contributors. As kind donors joined hands to alleviate the living conditions of these artists, the project stands as a testament to the transformative power of collective compassion, creating a more secure and hopeful community for Yakshagana artists to thrive.

A Tale of Hope and Community Resilience for Devappa Gowda
For 25 years, Devappa Gowda dedicated his life to the magic of Kateelu Mela, working humbly in the green room. Yet, his home, worn by time, succumbed to wind and rain. But from the ruins rose a story of compassion. The Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation, fueled by the love of local villagers and its Mudipu Branch, took swift action. In just four months, they transformed despair into hope, reconstructing Devappa’s dwelling. It was more than bricks and mortar; it was the Foundation’s first testament of kindness. As the sun touched the walls of the newfound sanctuary, it wasn’t just a house that stood tall. It was a symbol of a community’s resilience and the human spirit’s unyielding strength. In the presence of Aikala Harish Shetty, Santoshkumar Rai Bolyar, and esteemed dignitaries, the house was not just inaugurated – it was blessed by Shree of Odiyuru. In that moment, a village became a home, and hope echoed in every corner.

Manila Swamiji, Kuntaru Ravish Tantri, Patla Sathish Shetty, and respected figures graced the inauguration. The entire village joined this emotional celebration, witnessing the senior artist step into a freshly built haven. Amidst the joy, Koragappa expressed his gratitude, highlighting the rarity of someone remembering an artist from a bygone era. In a world where stars receive adoration, the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation showed that every artist, regardless of time, deserves a chance at brighter days.

Witnessing his plight, the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation swiftly stepped in, taking action to build him a new house within a few short months.
