I’m delighted to learn that the Yaksha Druva Foundation Trust, led by the renowned Yakshagana artist Mr. Patla Sathish Shetty, will construct 100 houses for deserving impoverished artists. Despite having portrayed the roles of emperors, kings, and wealthy men on stage, Yakshagana artists often struggle with poverty when they are not performing. This initiative is a laudable effort to provide these artists with the security and dignity of a home. In addition to building homes, the Trust has also provided valuable support to aspiring artists, instilling in them a sense of hope and confidence. I commend the Trust’s efforts and wish them continued success in their endeavors.

Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust stands as one of the most remarkable institutions in the history of Yakshagana, a beacon of hope for artists like myself. I have been a part of numerous Yakshagana organizations, fairs, and art service initiatives. The art of Yakshagana boasts a rich history spanning centuries. Although elements of classicism have emerged over time, Yakshagana has been primarily practised in temples and by art-loving rural communities. Until recently, it was not considered a sustainable livelihood for the artists. Yakshagana performances were traditionally hosted by individuals as a form of devotion to their God as they believed that this divine intervention would enlighten devotees to worship God through this art form. The popularity of these performances was spread through advertisements in bustling tourist destinations and during fairs. However, for an extended period, Yakshagana has been on a decline, leaving many artists struggling to make ends meet. Emerging like a beacon of hope, the ‘Patla Foundation’ has rescued us from the precipice of insecurity. It is truly remarkable that an artist of exceptional talent like Patla Sathish Shetty has chosen to forgo personal gain and instead utilize his popularity to uplift fellow artists and alleviate their hardships. This selfless act of compassion is a testament to his noble character and unwavering commitment to preserving the art of Yakshagana. The Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation’s relentless efforts to support Yakshagana artists are evident in their unwavering dedication. By securing funds from diverse sources, Patla Sathish Shetty has alleviated the financial burdens of countless Yakshagana artists, providing them with much-needed relief and a renewed sense of hope for the future of this cherished art form.

Yakshagana, the diverse art form of Tulunad, is not just an audiovisual feast, but also a spiritual experience. Among the great spirits who elevate this art form to new heights in a modern-day Bharata, is Mr. Patla Sathish Shetty. His dedication to Yaksha Kalarang goes beyond mere entertainment. He embodies loyalty, achievement, and perseverance, preserving tradition while infusing it with fresh energy. True to the saying “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha” – seek the happiness of others along with your own – he established the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust, a haven for artists. This visionary initiative has garnered support from artists across the globe, providing financial assistance and opportunities wherever needed. May Mr. Patla’s star shine even brighter, both in Yakshagana and the film industry. As the Trust celebrates its third anniversary, it stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration. May its philanthropic work flourish, reaching even greater heights. May May the trust’s endeavors be woven into the tapestry of fortune, each thread shimmering with the blessings of the almighty.

While we pride ourselves on Yakshagana’s purity and elegance, we cannot ignore the artists’ struggles with poverty and insecurity. Thankfully, initiatives like Yakshanidhi and Patla Foundation have emerged to address these issues. What sets Patla Foundation apart is its artist-centric approach. Bhagavata Patla Sathish Shetty’s popularity, instead of fueling personal gain, has been channeled into a remarkable support system for artists. This young talent choosing to prioritize their welfare over his own is truly inspiring. Patla Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that good work finds its supporters. It’s a model for artist patronage, one that needs to expand and continue with the nation’s unwavering support. By upholding the principles of enthusiasm, good planning, order, and vigilance, we can collectively strengthen the Patla Foundation, paving the way for its continued success.

Dr. N. Narayana Shetty

Our Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation stands as a testament to my disciple Patla Sathish Shetty’s extraordinary courage and dedication to our art form. In an age where patronage is rare, Sathish has rekindled the golden spirit of art lovers like kings and maharajas, proving that public support and good wishes can fuel immense achievements. The Patla Foundation, a beloved child of Kalamata, the mother of art, embodies selfless service. It exists to nurture and protect our artists, especially those struggling in their twilight years. When life’s true colors fade, the Patla Foundation steps in, offering a helping hand and a life of dignity, all without diminishing their self-respect. With the unwavering support of millions of kind hearts, may this institution’s strength never waver. May it continue its impossible mission of providing sanctuary for the afflicted, generation after generation. May Shri Durgaparameshwari, our beloved mother, lover, and benefactor of art, forever bless this noble endeavor with her protecting hand.

It’s an honor to witness Patla Sathish Shetty’s unwavering dedication to Yakshagana. He didn’t stop at his own success, fame, and popularity. Reaching the peak wasn’t enough; he turned his immense demand and admiration abroad to ignite a passion for the art in countless hearts. The Patla Foundation Trust, his brainchild, has become a sensation. Its branches, like roots of a mighty tree, have spread across districts, non-Karnataka cities, and even America and Dubai, strengthening the foundation’s core. This flourishing organization fills me with immense pride. The most astounding part is Sathish’s ability to balance his extraordinary performances, day and night, with leading the foundation’s tireless work, all without compromising his artistic integrity. It’s nothing short of inspiring. Each year, the foundation hosts elaborate events at Adyar. We honor disabled artists, award scholarships, present the prestigious Patla Award, and recognize senior percussionists. Our support extends beyond: we assist artists facing accidents or debilitating illnesses and even build homes for the homeless. Our dream is vast: a village dedicated to Yakshagana artists. Dozens of projects are underway to make this vision a reality. This is where we need your help, fellow donors, philanthropists, and art patrons. Join hands with us in this noble endeavor. May this praise of Patla Sathish Shetty echo through eternity! May his dream towers rise and his good luck forever overflow.

Though not a Yakshagana artist myself, my love for the art drew me to serve as the Patla Foundation Trust’s treasurer. I consider it a divine blessing, like serving Dakshina Kannada’s ten renowned shrines. It’s pure joy seeing Patlaguttu and Sathish Shetty join hands to aid struggling artists. Knowing this is God’s work fuels my dedication. While my auditor duties are demanding, the trust’s work brings unmatched peace. My office staff and colleagues deserve gratitude for their support. Witnessing the heartfelt happiness of artists receiving the trust’s help fills me with immense satisfaction. Through this artist-led, artist-focused trust, over 3 crore rupees have already been channeled into service projects. This is a testament to the generosity of our trustees, members, and art patrons. Together, let’s keep this dream alive, helping the trust soar even higher and fulfill the artist’s vision.

Imagine a ship battling a storm, tossed by waves, blinded by rain, and alone in the dark. When all hope seems lost, a guiding star shines through, offering courage and direction. This is the metaphor for the plight of many Yakshagana artists, often burdened by family, unexpected hardships, or illness. But like that lone traveler, our artists have found their guiding star in the Patla Dhruva Foundation. Inspired by a divine touch, Patla Sathish Shetty and his supporters have risen to the artists’ aid, creating a haven in the storm. Three years of tireless work have yielded incredible results: homes built for the homeless, financial support for accident victims, education for artists’ children, and so much more. Patla Foundation units have sprouted across the state, reaching even Delhi and overseas. This is no longer just one man’s achievement. It’s a testament to the unwavering loyalty of many hearts. But with Patla Sathish Shetty as our captain, let’s raise a toast to the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation and celebrate its victory – a victory for Yakshagana, and a victory for hope.

Kuriya Ganapati Shastri

Though young, Sathish Patla has lived a life brimming with possibilities and fulfillment. His dedication to art, his abundant sadhana, and his victories are all natural blessings for him. The crown jewel of his achievements is the Patla Foundation, an organization that seems destined for longevity, just like its founder. Patla Foundation is not merely a response to selfish desires, but a manifestation of the divine message of “Sarvejanah Sukhino Bhavantu.” It seeks the all-round happiness of the world, and in doing so, it echoes the philosophy of God. This commitment to social good shines through in its work, making it an organization that has truly “attained divinity.” Like the proverb goes, “Waiting is the work of God,” the Patla Foundation doesn’t simply wait, it actively achieves. It understands that organizations exist to realize social ideals, and it does so with remarkable zeal and compassion. Every office bearer works with the same noble intention, leading to the organization’s rapid growth and exceptional results. In a world where many are lost and orphaned, the Patla Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, a sheltering organization that restores life and spirit. Its very existence is a testament to its social necessity, and its potential for good seems limitless.
