To foster the rich cultural heritage of the coastal region, particularly the revered art of Yakshagana, and with the comprehensive well-being of underprivileged artists at its core, a transformative initiative was born – the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust. Inaugurated on 14.09.2015, this small yet significant miracle unfolded in the nurturing embrace of Katilu Shri Durgaparameshwari.
Much like a newborn cradled in the arms of destiny, this heartening chapter promised to etch an enduring mark in the dramatic narrative of service to Yakshagana artists. The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed personalities such as Sri Sri Sri Guru Devananda Swamiji of Odiyuru, Vedamurthy Sri Vasudeva Asranna, Vedamurthy Sri Lakshminarayana Asranna, Vedamurthy Sri Ananta Padmanabha Asranna, and Bhagavata Balipa Narayana.
The event featured special performances, namely Chandravali Vilasa and Shivarchane, skillfully led by Bhagavatas Balipa Narayana, Patla Sathish Shetty, and Ravichandra Kannadikatte. This marked not just an inauguration but a significant step towards preserving and promoting the artistic legacy of Yakshagana.
Ten individuals who dedicated themselves tirelessly to the realm of Yakshagana were awarded an honorarium of Rs. 50,000 each. In challenging circumstances, this served as a modest contribution and a meaningful form of recognition from the Trust. This acknowledgment was extended to artists from both Tenkutittu and Badagutittu styles, encompassing lead artists, supporting cast members, and those working behind the scenes.
